Tahoe - Salt Lake City

A bit snowy when leaving Tahoe!

The long drive to Salt Lake City.
Fortunately Newt was a beast and had no trouble making it up (and down) the mountain flawlessly. 

We stopped at Winnemucca Pizzeria (in Winnemucca, NV).
I think the hours spent mindlessly driving through Nevada brainwashed me when I thought it would be a good idea to order pizza with chorizo. Yuck! Great service and atmosphere but a sausage based red sauce was just not what we wanted to finish out another 4+ hours in the car. 

The things we do for Starbucks! Let it be known that there are very FEW to ZERO easily accessible Starbucks on I-80 in Nevada. We found one in a casino and scurried over for some much needed caffeine goodness!


Casino's, Cabella's and Strip Clubs. This about sums up I-80 (and I-90) in the mid-west!

We arrived in Salt Lake City late but managed to snap a picture of the Temple while driving to the Red Iguana for dinner.

Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to spend in this city. BUT .. we did manage to have dinner at possibly the best restaurant in town. The Red Iguana. <--- check out this video of how they make mole. Pretty incredible (and delicious!!)

We were given a sample of the 8 different mole sauces that were freshly made that week. YUM!

Best way to end the night .. Episode 4 of the new season of Dexter.

Tomorrow ... Denver (and lots of driving) to visit Abby and Buckshot!
